UN Pension Fund awarded "Institutional Investor of the Year" by Africa investor
.At the Africa investor Investment and Business Leader 2010 Awards, held during the World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, DC this month, the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF), which manages approximately $40 billion in assets, was recognized as Institutional Investor of the Year.
Africa investor (Ai) is a leading international investment research and communications group. These prestigious awards are the longest-standing international awards to reward exceptional business practices, economic achievements and investments across Africa, and recognize the institutions and individuals improving the continents investment climate.
The Director of the Investment Management Division, Suzanne Bishopric, accepted the award on behalf of the UNJSPF and welcomed this recognition. The Director stated that investments in Africa have contributed to the profitable performance of the Fund.
As with all Fund investments, due diligence activity is an essential success factor in its process. This is illustrated by the recent mine safety review conducted by Director Bishopric and Investment Officer Pierre Debraine in Bafokeng, South Africa.
